Parent Coaching with Whitney Rogers

When family life demands more than you can sustain

You worked hard to get here, but the day-to-day of parenting young children is becoming too much.

You’re here. You made it. You’ve put so many things in place and made significant sacrifices to start your family. Maybe you set career goals to the side, neglected other relationships or passions, and your marriage might be more of an afterthought at this point.

You love your kids, but you’re feeling drained and unable to continue to meet the demands without sacrificing in deep and important ways. You’re more irritable, less compassionate, and feel like you’re going through the motions in parenting.

TRAUMA INFORMED RELATIONAL PARENT COACHING

Unlike traditional parent coaching or behavioral child therapy, which focuses on behavioral strategies to increase compliance, I help parents understand the relational dynamics at play in the here and now, including the child's developmental needs and limitations, to create realistic, holistic, and sustainable change in family patterns.

Relational Parent Coaching holds that both behavioral change and mutual affection and respect are valid and essential for the long-term relationship between parent and child. Without sacrificing the dignity of the child- as in manipulative tactics from behaviorally based child therapy models- or the dignity of the parent- as in parenting approaches that encourage parents to override personal needs for autonomy, independence, and an identity outside of parenthood- I help parents establish family norms of respect for self and other.
